Fox Octopus Vulgaris Black G10 FOX510
Search By Category
Meet the Octopus Vulgaris, a striking fixed blade design by Tommaso Rumici, produced by Fox Knives in Maniago, Italy. Where to begin. How about words straight from the designer?
"Drawing the Octopus, I wanted to create a knife versatile enough to be interesting for various types of Fox customers: sporting, hunting, and military. The result is, in my opinion, an ideal compromise between portability and performance: a knife that will never be too big or heavy to have it with you when you need it."
The 4.53" N690 clip point blade sports a high primary grind and plenty of belly, enhancing slicing performance of the Octopus Vulgaris. A swedge also aids in penetrating power and should help with cutting efficiency.
The handle is designed to lock into your hand. Textured G10 handle scales are firmly attached to the tang and an integrated finger guard helps with safety. Extra jimping on the spine is an added benefit when attacking your work with a saber grip.
The pommel is made for striking, with an aggressive point and ridges for breaking things open. You can also find dual lanyard holes poking out of the handle scales for multiple attachment points. Speaking of attachment options, included is a versatile leather sheath with multiple straps for accessories.
N690
The cobalt-alloyed N690 by Böhler (not to be confused with the lower-grade N695) is a very reliable upper middle-grade steel Fox uses for a wide variety of projects. The fine-grained N690, which ranks above 440C, offers convincing performance data in all areas. It is often sold as N690Co – the "Co" stands for cobalt and describes the exact same steel.
