Modern Take on an Ancient Classic
What would a modern roman soldier carry in place of the gladius? The TOPS Modern Gladius is loosely
based on that classic weapon but sized more appropriately for today’s carry. It is double-edged, with
double fullers, a solid guard and comfortable handle, and includes a Kydex sheath with a leather dangler
to make it easy to carry. The team at Smoky Mountain Knife Works designed this piece as an homage to
the old gladius carried by the Roman foot soldier and they have captured that feel perfectly for modern times
